Being A Blogger Apprentice of the Pinay Mommies Community

It has been six months now since I started blogging. If I had known that blogging would be this fun – and therapeutic – I would have started blogging years ago. In the past six months, I have fostered new friendships, learned a great deal about blogging, gained more insights about parenting and running the household, and was inspired by other bloggers to be a better person by living my life fully, appreciating what I have, and giving back to the community.

I started a blog with just basic knowledge of grammar and mediocre writing skills. I’m no tech whiz yet but I’m now able to understand a wee bit of html. My proficiency in putting thoughts to written word still needs much improvement but I can now construct an article in half the time I used to take writing one. All these I attribute to the wonderful people who I have met and who have generously shared their resources and knowledge with me and with other newbies as well.

I stumbled upon the blogosphere through the blogs of Jenny and Beda, ladies I have met when I volunteered for a Mommy Mundo Momshare event. Their blogs The Joyful Life of Jen and Mami and Family ushered me into the world of bloggers. As I clicked on link after link, I was enthralled to find out that there were hundreds of interesting blogs that were worthy to be read. Among my first favorites were The Mommy Journey, Earthlingorgeous, and Pensive Thoughts. It was through the Mommy Moments Meme of The Mommy Journey that I got to know other mommy bloggers. Their inspiring stories and practical home and parenting ideas encouraged me to carry on my venture into blogging. I do aspire to be as great a blogger as they are someday and to be able to touch the lives of other people the way they have touched mine.

In a series of fortuitous events, I found myself among established bloggers at Joy Mendiola’s first Occasions of Joy blogversary. It was here that I first personally met Tetcha of Pensive Thoughts. She must have been held aback when I shouted her name in surprise when I saw her. I have visited her blog so many times through Mommy Moments that I felt that I’ve known her forever. Soon after, Pehpot graciously included me in the Pinay Mommies Community and my so-called blogging career went uphill from then on. I also had the privilege of personally meeting Mommy Ruby whose great reputation precedes her. It is with her web hosting services that my three blogs are hosted.

Everything I know now about blogging, I learned from the mommies of PMC. I put so much faith in the community that I would heed their advice even if I have not fully understood the intricacies of blogging. Call it blind faith but it was their advice that led me to where I am now. When I was advised to shift to WordPress and avail of hosting services, I did so even without any prior knowledge of the WordPress platform. I have had no regrets following the advice of PMC moms. All of them had paved the way to where I am now in the blogosphere.

There may be intrigues and occasional arguments, but I am proud to say that the mommies of PMC are united in their goal to help and support each other.  True to the word “community”, PMC moms are always there for professional, emotional, and spiritual support. It truly is a great privilege to be a part of the Pinay Mommies Community!

    • This is my main blog. The one I started last January. The other two blogs are from domains I’ve received for free from PMC moms. Both blogs still need a lot of work though.

  2. PMC is indeed a great community. I am grateful for all the help and support those mommies gave to us.

  3. This is a well-written piece, Olga, and you’re right, we’re all lucky to become members of PMC whose goal is to help each mommy blogger succeed. It’s always a welcome sight to see new bloggers like you bloom and make their presence known in the blogosphere. Keep doing what you’re doing and keep improving your craft, but always keep your feet on the ground. And oh, thanks for the mention!

  4. PMC helped me a lot too! i still consider myself a noob when it comes to blogging and I am a techie idiot myself, but because of PMC, i grew up and learned a lot… just like you, i’ve got free domains too (about 3 of them) hehehehe…my hands are so full now. so happy to be part of the community too. visiting here!

  6. Thanks for mentioning The Mommy Journey and Mommy Moments… I am so blessed to have known you as well! 🙂 I believe in you and in your talent in writing 🙂 May God’s favor be upon you!

  7. I have heard that you can make money from blogging, but i really don’t understand the concept. How do you make the money? How much can you make? Is it hard? Is it easy? Is it time consuming? Is it worth it? If you could answer that would be great, thanks..
