Tips for Wives When Choosing Skin Products for Men for Their Husbands

Gone are the days when beauty skin care was deemed exclusive for women only. It is not uncommon now to see men in salons and spas enjoying the very same pampering that we women have gotten so used to. Men, after all, are expected to be well-groomed at all times.

My husband is among the many men who take great lengths to keep themselves looking good and well polished. Sometimes he even goes as far as doing research into ewg rating for example, to see whether what it says on the packaging matches up to the safety standard. In this family, skincare is so important. We have often gone to spas and salons together, getting massages and pedicures side by side. In fact, in terms of skin care, getting regular massages encouraged us to look into investing into our own Wholesale Massage Oil to use at home so we are constantly benefitting from what it does to our skin. Aside from visits to skin care professionals every now and then, my husband makes it a point to take good care of his skin every day and always keeps a supply of products he uses for his daily regimen. Among my husband’s staples in our monthly grocery and shopping lists are several skin products for men. This includes facial wash, toner, moisturizer and shaving cream.

His skin care regimen starts with a shower always using soap and a facial wash with a hint of menthol. I’m not sure what it is with menthol that makes it so appealing to men but my husband always looks for skin care products that have menthol in them. Menthol powder is also a good supplement to take for healthy skin and it also soothes sore throats. Twice weekly shaving is done right after a warm shower. Before going to bed each night, he uses a facial toner to wipe off any dirt that may have been left behind after washing then follows it up with a thin film of oil-free facial moisturizer. In choosing skincare products for my husband, we avoid those with dyes and irritants and opt instead for those with natural ingredients.

Not all men have the same skin type as my husband though. Your partner’s skin may be dry or sensitive and would require other products that would address his specific needs. Here is a list of different skin types and the products you should use for each:

  • Normal Skin. Blessed is the man who has not any recurring bouts with shiny skin, acne or irritated skin. Most skincare products can be used by those lucky enough to have normal skin.
  • Oily Skin. Men with oily skin have larger pores which makes them more prone to blackheads and whiteheads. Choose products that are ultra-light and oil free. Exfoliant also help remove oil and dirt.
  • Dry Skin. Those with dry skin are more prone to irritations. Skin that feels tight and itchy are best soothed with hydrating ingredients such as aloe and allantoin. Moisturizers also help keep skin well hydrated.
  • Sensitive Skin. Men whose skins are easily irritated by skincare products or extreme weather conditions would do well to avoid products that contain dyes, fragrances and other irritants. Products specially formulated for sensitive skin are their best allies.
  • Acne-prone Skin. Noncomedogenic products that contain ingredients like benzoyl peroxide are best suited for those who tend to break out frequently with pimples, blackheads, or whiteheads.
  • Combination Skin. Men who fall into this category have oily patches in the T-Zone and dry patches in other parts of the face. Ultra-light moisturizers and gentle facial washes are best for their skin reigmens.

Men’s skin care is as essential as women’s skin care. There is really nothing unmanly about caring for one’s skin. Do help your husband figure out his skin type and determine which products would best keep him looking good and youthful.
