Angelicum…Immortal Name Resounding

When you go back to a place where you spent most of your childhood in, you really can’t help feeling nostalgic.  This is exactly how I felt when I went to Angelicum School (Angelicum College now) to attend the Jolly Cow School Tour last Friday. Being there brought a deluge of memories.  I spent 14 years in this school so that’s a helluva lot of memories!

Brace yourselves coz this post is going to be flooded with pictures…

Angelicum Then

Field Demo circa 1981
I was a chubby li’l girl then. Now I’m a chubby li’l mom. 😛

1981 or 1982? When our eldest sister was still the tallest among the brood.

Another field demo. This was taken in 1983 or 84.
See, I once was taller than my youngest sister. 😀

High School graduation, 1993.
That stage has not changed since I was three. It still looks exactly the same now. Well, except for the paint, that is.

Angelicum Now

Elementary grounds
See the tree on the far right? That used to be our fave base when playing cops and robbers. 🙂

These kiosks weren’t here two decades ago. There used to be pine trees behind it whose leaves we used as “rice” while playing “bahay-bahayan”

The Octagon Building and The Batibot
YS-6 and YS-7 years were spent in this building. The tree in front is the most favorite tambayan of many.

High School Corridor
Much wider than it used to be. And much grander, too!

Robotics Lab!!!
I would have had plenty of fun here if we had this already during our time!

Walkway to the Gym
Those pillars used to be just plain poles.

This used to be the High School Cafeteria. Now behind this wall is the school’s swimming pool. Now why did they not think of putting a swimming pool thirty years ago?

Gymnasium had an extreme makeover!
It looks so modern now. Those gates used to be just made of chicken wire. 🙂

The stage is still the same as I remember but everything else was renovated. There are now classrooms on the right side. Those used to be rooms for supplies and other stuff.

Football Field
It’s much smaller now but it still brings so many fond memories of CAT formations and marches, field demonstrations, and soccer games.

The school may have changed a lot but it will still be the same ol’ Angelicum we have grown to love and be proud of.  And yes, it’s immortal name will continue to resound in our hearts and in our minds.

Comments

  1. You have such a beautiful school and you are so pretty then, beautiful now hehehe.

  2. I can relate to how you feel. I feel nostalgic too especially when the weather isn’t that nice, it made me think of my hometown and people in that place.

  3. Lovely pictures Mommy Olga. You look like your little girl when you’re young.

  4. I love the photos!!! So jealous coz you still have old photos from your childhood at your school. Mine were gone! 🙁 Field Demonstration was one of my favorite activities (yearly) at my school, too. 🙂

  5. It’s nice to bring back all those beautiful days we had during our younger years. Beautiful memories we can never forget.

  6. Angelicum is a great school.:) Now I miss my old school. LOL I am an Adamsonian in high school and I went to La Consolacion in college.

  7. I can totally relate! It’s amazing how all these mixed emotions come about everytime we go back to our alma matter. We can’t help but reminisce the past. Your post is an example that things changes overtime…and your school changed beautifully. 🙂
