Singapore Math Enrichment at Galileo

A few years ago, I was able to attend a seminar on Unlocking the Secrets of Singapore Math.  Although I have heard of Singapore Math before, I was not inclined to learn more about it as my kids were still babies then.  On that day, however, I was amazed at how easy it was to understand and to solve complex Math problems using the Singapore Math method. Of course, one seminar isn’t enough to fully grasp this method. Thankfully, Galileo regularly holds seminars and workshops for parents and teachers and has enrichment programs all year-round for students.

Why Enrol Your Kids in A Singapore Math Enrichment Program?

Our generation grew up learning Math using a different method which is why a lot of parents find the Singapore Math method confusing.  Believe me, I’ve heard one too many parents complain about this method because they have a hard time helping their kids with their homework. How can you teach something you don’t know? Of course, the task of teaching Math should actually fall on the teachers’ shoulders; but, with a class population of 30 – 45 kids, not all kids are able to keep up with the lessons.

So what’s a parent to do? You could attend seminars and workshops to equip you with skills and knowledge you can use to help your kids.  Or, you could enrol your kids in an enrichment program where qualified teachers can create an effective program that’s suited to your kids’ learning styles.

In a Singapore Math Enrichment Program, student’s develop understanding and mastery of fundamentals of Math and learn problem solving secrets.

What Makes Galileo Effective?

With the host of learning and tutorial centers around, Galileo is set apart from them with its advocacy to improve the quality of education in the country and come out with globally-competitive learners.

FIND THE GENIUS, DISCOVER THE STAR
in every child

Telescopic Approach.  Galileo uses the Telescopic Approach which focuses on each child, finds his learning needs, and provides a tailor-fit curriculum to address those specific needs.

Five Ways of Learning. Understanding that each child is unique, Galileo employs five different approaches to learning.  The Tactile Launch Pad uses manipulatives such as blocks, beads, boards, and pegs.  In Space Race, flash cards and oral drills hone kids in mastering concepts and challenge their minds to provide lightning-quick answers.  To check a child’s understanding and to practice writing skills, kids are given Nova Data worksheets to answer.  Book Galaxy encourages reading and brings kids to a portal of books where they can explore the universe.  Since we are in the age of technology, kids are also exposed to educational software where they become Cyber Explorers in a cyberworld of numbers and words.

Parental Involvement. Galileo strongly encourages parental involvement and gives importance to communication with parents and guardians.  Parents are asked to monitor a child’s study time at home. Every quarter, they hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss a child’s development.

Fun Way of Learning. Galileo believes that children learn best when they associate learning with fun.  This is why they develop programs for Math and English that are meaningful, exciting, and fun. Young kids will be thrilled with their Reward System using Star Stamps, Galileo Galleons, Certificates, and Level-Up Badges.   With every stamp or badge they earn, kids are more encouraged to work harder and to learn more.

How Much Does it Cost?

Here’s the question parents like me ask before making a decision to enrol in any program – how much does it cost?  Well, the great news is the fees can fit right within the budget of a typical Pinoy family.  There’s a one-time registration fee of Php 500 which already includes a starter kit and a Galileo bag.  The tuition fee for each subject per month is Php 1,860 for Math or English and Php 2,500 for Singapore Math.

If you have kids ages 3 to 12 and would like for them to develop a positive attitude towards learning and to become academically competitive, enrol them in a Galileo Enrichment Learning Program now.
