Pantene Has Got My Hair Covered

Pantene is one of the two conditioner brands that I have been using for many years now.  When I received a package of three Pantene Daily Intensive Conditioners, there was no need to test the products out for me to rave about them.  They’ve been tried and tested through the years. Having remained a Pantene user for this many years already says a lot about how much I love their products.  After discovering the #BeautifulScience behind Pantene though, I couldn’t resist testing if it really works.

 photo pantene.jpg

For my mini-experiment, I parted my hair in half after shampooing and used Pantene Color and Perm Daily Intensive Conditioner (I had my hair colored a few weeks ago so this is what I’ve been using lately) on the right half.  I then compared the texture and appearance of both halves right after rinsing, after towel drying, and when my hair was fully dry.  When my husband came home, I also asked him if he could tell any difference between both halves.

Here’s how my mini-experiment went:

After shampooing my hair, I gently squeezed my hair to drain off excess water. I then squeezed an adequate amount of Pantene Daily Intensive Conditioner on my palm and spread it on my palm and in between fingers.

 photo pantenesweetasicing.jpg

Like icing on my hair. 😀 Whoever thought of using a star tip on the tube was a genius! I don’t remember when exactly they changed the design of the packaging but I do remember squealing in delight the first time Pantene came out like this when I squeezed the tube.

I parted my hair in the middle and applied the conditioner on the right half. I let it soak for a couple of minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Right after rinsing, I already noticed significant difference. The side with Pantene conditioner was tangle-free and I could easily run my fingers through my hair.  The other side felt wiry and rough.  After towel drying, I took a picture of both sides.  Check out the two pictures below.

 photo pantenecomparison.jpg

Did you notice that the left side was frizzy while the right one was smooth and straight?  Here’s another picture where the difference is more evident.

 photo pantenecomparisonreverseblackandwhite.jpg

Even without using a blowdryer, the side with Pantene was still sleek and not frizzy. After a few hours, the Pantene side remained tangle-free, shiny, and smooth.  When my husband came home, I asked him if he could any difference between the two halves.  He said that the right side was smoother and smelled great.

You can really tell the Pantene difference.  The Pantene side stayed soft, smooth, and fragrant more than 12 hours after shampooing – and even after a couple of hours exposed to city pollution and sunlight.

After doing this comparison, I am now more confident in saying that I use Pantene Daily Intensive Conditioner because it really works!

The Beautiful Science behind Great Hair Care

Want to say goodbye to bad hair days?  You can try just every other hair care product out there until you find the perfect one for you. OR you can try to understand the science behind hair care and use that knowledge to choose the best products for your hair. I’d choose the latter if I were you. 🙂

The word SCIENCE does sound terrifying (think chemistry, biology, and physics), but bear with me here as I share what BEAUTIFUL SCIENCE is all about. Promise you won’t need to know Avogadro’s number or the atomic theory to understand this. 😉

#BeautifulScience Behind Pantene

The Problem

To know what makes your hair beautiful, you must know first what damages it. Pantene Technologies identified the most common agents of hair damage:

  • chemical treatments
  • rough brushing
  • tying hair too tightly
  • vigorous drying with a towel
  • prolonged exposure to the sun or to water
  • heat from blow dryers

These agents strip off or erode the hair cuticle(the outer protective covering of hair) exposing the cortex(inner hair structure) to damage. When this happens, hair becomes dry, dull, and brittle. This can lead to split ends, breakage, frizziness, hair fall, and other signs of hair damage.

The Solution

To restore hair health and protect it from further damage, the exposed hair cortex must be covered or the cuticle replaced and strengthened. This is exactly what Pantene Daily Intensive Conditioner does – it deposits a protective layer to seal every strand of hair protecting it from further damage and restoring its shine. This is the very reason why hair conditioned by Pantene passes the Static Generator Experiment.

One View, One Pledge, One Million Clean Toilets

This video should serve as a wake-up call for most of us. The little things we take for granted, like having a clean toilet, could mean the world to others and could definitely help save lives,”

– Dennis Chua, Domex Brand Manager –

How many Youtube videos do you watch every day? Here’s one that you absolutely MUST watch.  Every unique view this video gets, counts as a pledge. And for every pledge received, P5 will be donated by Domex to UNICEF’s sanitation program which aims to improve access to basic sanitation in deprived areas around the world.

1 unique view = 1 pledge = P5 donation

That means that just by taking a few minutes to view the video below you are already helping less privileged communities gain access to clean toilet facilities.  Encourage your family and friends to watch the video as well. Join the Domex One Million Clean Toilets Movement and help save lives together.

Community welcomes arrival of clean toilets in “Fiesta” video

It’s a scene typically played out during fiestas: People rushing to the streets, drawn to the sound of a marching band. Everyone is smiling, eager to see the “star” of the celebration. But instead of showing the face of a movie celebrity, a beauty queen or a politician, the video reveals an unlikely, yet welcome sight—a new, clean toilet facility.

Aptly titled “Fiesta”, the Domex video, produced by Unilever Philippines, is available on Youtube and shows how underprivileged Filipinos welcome the “arrival” of clean toilet facilities in their communities. “The video aims to make people realize the value of a toilet which most of us, unfortunately, take for granted,” said Dennis Chua, Domex Brand Manager.

The “Fiesta” video contributes to the efforts of Domex’s One Million Clean Toilets Movement. Each unique view translates into a pledge for the advocacy campaign which collects pledges from households to conscientiously maintain their own hygienic bathrooms. For every pledge received, Domex will donate P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program, towards improving access to basic sanitation in deprived areas around the world, including the Philippines.

“By watching the ‘Fiesta’ video and asking our friends to watch it, we are not only raising awareness for toilet appreciation and sanitation, more importantly, we are helping less privileged communities gain access to clean toilet facilities,” said Benjie Yap, Unilever Foods and Home Care Vice President.

Clean toilets, germ-free communities

All over the country, people are welcoming the construction of new toilet facilities and the repair of dilapidated ones, since becoming aware of its role in disease prevention, especially among children.

According to the Department of Health, of the estimated 3,420 diarrhea-related deaths among Filipino children under 5 every year, around 2,000 could have been prevented by access to safe water, improved toilet sanitation and personal hygiene.

This video should serve as a wake-up call for most of us. The little things we take for granted, like having a clean toilet, could mean the world to others and could definitely help save lives,” Chua said.

One Busy Saturday

Saturday is laundry day so we usually just stay home. The kids spend time with their Papa or do crafts while I wash our clothes. Last Saturday though was an exception. Right after hanging the last piece of clothing to dry, we all prepped for going out.

First stop was a quick lunch before the kids’ dental appointment. I’ve been encouraging friends in another state to get their children to a Dentist in Louisville early so they can get used to the visits, and to make sure they’re free from any issues. As for mine, the kids now go to My Dentist in SM where a pedia dentist is available on weekdays. It’s also more convenient going there since it’s much closer to our place than PCMC. Both kids had oral prophylaxis and fluoride application. As always, it was fuss-free and cavity-free. Yup! Both kids have stayed cavity-free up to now. Want to know how they’ve managed to have healthy gums and teeth? Click here to read my post from last year.

Who’s not afraid of the dentist?

 photo jakdentist2014a.jpg

chillin’ coz there’s no drillin’ (still cavity free! woo-hoo!)

Spending time with the kids at the dentist got me thinking about my own teeth too. My best friend who lives in California has recently had some cosmetic dentistry work done at a Dentist in Sacramento and her new smile has got me debating whether or not I should treat myself too. Whitening treatments are very popular at the moment, and so are teeth straightening solutions such as Invisalign, so I am feeling tempted to get something done. Looking after your teeth is so important though which is why if you are considering getting any cosmetic dentistry procedures done, you should always do your research first, whether you are considering going to a Dentist In batavia, or a dentist in Budapest. Nonetheless, with cosmetic dentistry on my mind, after getting their “good patient” stickers from their dentist, we bought a couple of gifts for Jakei’s best friend in school who was celebrating her 6th birthday. Then off we trooped to Antipolo.

 photo samsbirthday.jpg

Jakei wouldn’t miss BFF Sam’s birthday party for anything in the world!

The kids had fun playing party games but we had to leave before the magic show started. I had dinner plans with mommy blogger friends and had to be at the train station before 6pm. Instead of going home, Papa Jay took the kids on a movie date. The kids had been waiting for the movie Big Hero 6 to be shown on the big screen so this naturally was the movie of the night. 🙂

 photo BigHero6.jpg

Kids were raving about this movie on the way home!

After the movie, they waited for me halfway to the house so I wouldn’t have to walk home all by myself. We arrived home a little after 10pm with Papa and I exhausted and the kids, as always, still full of energy. It definitely was a long busy Saturday for us, not the typical in-bed-by-seven-o-clock weekday sched. 😀

Care to share how your weekend went? I’d love to hear your stories too. 🙂

Four Hours, Four Wonderful Women

Finally! After what seemed like a hundred years, schedules matched and we were able to go out for dinner again. Four hours is never enough for chitchats with these beautiful moms but it’s often the only time we could spare to catch up with each other’s lives. Four hours may be bitin but I’ll take it whenever I can. 🙂

(L-R: the 10-pounds-overweight Me, Arcee of I Love Hues, Gene of Corbitoness, and Bev of Momsicle Online)

We intended to dine at MannHann but I sucked at reading the mall map (how I wish they had a digital signage mall, it would have been so much easier to understand) and ended up leading us in the opposite side of the mall. We were all famished so we decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants nearest us. Mesa was full, there was a Ramen place across it but no one was in the mood for ramen. So, Gaucho it was. Good thing it didn’t disappoint us!

Since we were all light eaters, we only ordered one appetizer, one salad dish, and one main course. Thinking that the food may not be enough, I almost ordered one of the side dishes. Good thing I decided to wait ‘coz the salad’s serving was hefty and the main course was quite filling.

Here’s a quick peek of what we had. Pardon the poor quality of the photos, I was just using my camera phone. Plus, we were all famished and couldn’t wait to dig in. 😛

Fugazetta with Spinach & Italian Prosciutto (Php 490)

It was a consensus, this was the best one among the three dishes! The crust was perfectly crisp. The prosciutto’s delicate sweet flavor complemented the saltiness of the cheese and the tanginess of the pizza sauce. An order of this comes with eight slices (one is missing from the photo below coz someone was starving – it wasn’t me!) which is just enough for two diners but bitin for us four.

 photo MGfugazeta.jpg

Fugazetta is an Argentinian thin crust pizza made with chickpea flour & provolone. Aside from Spinach & Italian Prosciutto, there are two more topping options: Sweet Onion & Oregano (P360) and Chorizo, Anchovies, Tomatoes, Olives (P470).

Ensalada de Remolacha y Ricotta (Php 280)

If one were to have this salad and nothing else, the big bowlful of salad they served us would still be enough to fill three tummies. It was hefty! This generous serving of lettuce greens, arugula, sweet pickled beets(remolacha) and ricotta cheese drizzled with Italian vinaigrette was what kept me from ordering a side dish.

 photo MGsalad.jpg

Falda a la Cruz US Beef Shortplate (Php 550)

The US Beef Shortplate slow roasted from the fire pit was served with Chimichurri, assorted organic pickles (eggplant, onion, zucchini I think) and unlimited steamed rice. The meat was tender and juicy but I’m trying to lose a couple (make it more like a dozen!) of pounds so I just settled with a slice. This serving was just enough for the four of us but those with bigger tummies may find this serving good for just one person. 🙂

 photo MGbeef.jpg

Overall, we loved the food and the ambiance at Gaucho. We didn’t stay for desserts though as Bev was collecting stickers from Starbucks where we opted to have coffee and cakes. 🙂

Four hours is definitely too short a time to spend with these beautiful ladies. But I’m grateful that even if we don’t get to share as many “four hours” together as we wish, we’re all able to keep in touch online and know that our friendship is for keeps. 😀
