Blog Event for Mom becomes Blog Event for Fam

I was invited to a bloggers’ event at Max’s Restaurant last Tuesday night.  I had no tutorial work that day and hubby was more than willing to handle the kids for the night so I confirmed my attendance.  It was also going to be my mommy’s day-off that week.   So Tuesday afternoon, I took the kids to hubby’s office fully intending to go to the event by my lonesome.

Since they were going out for dinner anyway,  we decided that we would all go to Greenbelt together and they would just have dinner at Max’s while waiting for me.   Upon entering the restaurant though, Kim immediately saw me with the little ones in tow.  She and Maui motioned me to enter the function room but I said that hubby and the kids were going to stay in the main dining area for their dinner.  They, however, insisted that the entire family join the Bloggers’ dinner.  Hubby and the little ones became innocent event gatecrashers! 😀  Both Jade and Jakei were even given their own nametags. How cute is that?

The kids were fairly well-behaved during the event, listening to thelively hosts and even clapping their hands when everyone else was clapping.  They were delighted to see the sweet treats from Max’s Corner Bakery that we got to taste during the event.

More than halfway through the event, little Jakei became restless so hubby took him out to walk around Greenbelt Gardens.  My little Jade was also a bit bored and pleaded that she be allowed to take pictures using my camera.  It seems that my princess has gotten used to seeing me take pictures of food that they became the center of her attention.  Oh, and she was also able to take a lovely picture of Tita Fedhz.

Though I was unable to have my “day-off”, I was still more than glad to have my entire family with me that night.  Thank you Maui and Kim for inviting my little ones to be the youngest attendees in the event, Max’s Fried Chicken for the sumptuous dinner, and Max’s Corner Bakery for the delightful treats.

Kids In Doodles: Dropper Art

I’ve been swamped with household chores that I have been unable to prepare decent activities for our PLAYhouse PreSCHOOL morning sessions.  Since our helper left, the toddlers have had to make do with workbooks and their toys.

I have resolved though to find a way to adjust our schedule so we could still do fun learning activities together.  One of the activities I miss the most is our Art Day.  Here’s one of the messiest art activities we had last year, Dropper Art:

We just used old medicine droppers, food color mixed with water, oslo paper, and TONS of newspaper to soak up spills.  It was pretty messy but the kids had oodles of fun.  Moreover, pinching the medicine dropper was a perfect exercise to hone their fine-motor skills.

If you want to try this activity with your toddlers, make sure you have plenty of newspaper around. 😀
