Chelsea Market Cafe

In one of those rare occassions when my husband and I were able to go out just by our twosome, we found ourselves at an event in The Podium.  Making the most of our “couple time”, we had early dinner at Chelsea Market Cafe. It was only 5pm so it was really quite early for dinner but we had to be home by 7pm and could not afford to wait a few more hours for our dinnerdate.

Since we had just eaten snack a couple of hours before(it was only 5pm after all), we opted to just share a salad and a main course. Once we placed our orders, we were served a wooden board with a baked whole bulb of garlic sitting on warm focaccia bread. I’m a big fan of garlic so naturally, I loved this dish.  I would have asked for an extra serving had I not eaten a couple of pretzels earlier.  I have no picture of this though as we finished it before I even remembered to take pictures.  Speaking of pictures, I don’t have decent pictures of our meal as I only remembered to bring out the camera halfway through dinner.

Grilled Roasted US Rib eye

The Chelsea Greek Panko Crusted Feta Cheese(P350) was a delectable mixture of baby romaine lettuce, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, fresh tomatoes, cucumber mint and kalamata olives drizzled with sweet lemon and dill yogurt.  Hubby loved the salad dressing but found the crusted feta cheese a tad too salty.

The Grilled Roasted US Rib Eye(P 1395) we shared had 400g of rib eye served with roasted organic vegetables, mashed potatoes and red wine sauce.  It was really nothing spectacular as the steak was not as juicy as we hoped it to be. It was truly filling though.  I ordered an extra serving of mashed potatoes because the serving that came with the meal seemed measley.  I was wrong though and we weren’t able to finish all the mashed potatoes we ordered.

The servings were quite hefty leaving no room for dessert.  However, I have an Enjoy Philippines card and voucher and so we were able to bring home Smores for free.  The dessert cost around P200 if I remember right.

There really was nothing extraordinary about the meal nor the place.  We might go there again if we find ourselves in the area but we probably won’t go out of our way just to dine at Chelsea again.
