Beating the Blues: What to Do When There Seems to Be Nothing to Write About

It may seem like I have a lot to say about different topics, but there really are days when I simply feel the blues and get stumped for topics to write about.  There are days when I have a topic in mind, but cannot seem to find the words to write.  Yes, there is such a thing as a writer’s block.

When this happens, what should a writer do?  If what you need to write about is something as important as a custom essay or term papers for school, you simply do not have much of a choice but to summon the powers that be for some inspiration to get those words flowing from your head.  When I get hit by moments of “silence,” these are some of the tricks that I pull out from my writer’s hat:

  1. Read. The best way to get those gears in your head moving is to read.  You can choose your reading materials according to the topic you have in mind.  If you are still without a topic, think about what your audience would be interested in reading.  See what the search engines will turn up when you type in a particular topic.  Read on and soon enough something will strike your fancy.  Whether you are writing for school, for work, or for any other reason, make sure that the information that you gather in your research are relevant to your readers.
  2. Listen. The common reaction writers have when they are stumped and on a deadline is to get frazzled and frantic.  Calm yourself down by listening to music that relaxes you or that loosens you up.  Having all your nerves uptight will clog the flow of creative juices even more.  Make like Peter Pan and go to your happy place to get you in the right mental state to get your job done.
  3. Write. Do not let your mental block get the better of you.  Write.  Write.  Write.  Remember that it is all about state of mind.  After you have shaken off your anxiety by reading and listening, you just have to get on that keyboard and type away your thoughts.  Most importantly, have fun and enjoy writing up whatever it is you are supposed to write.  For all you know, it might just be the masterpiece you are waiting for.

PMC 2nd Grand EB: Fun, Food, and Familial Bonding with Fantastic Mommies

From a small group of women who shared a common passion for blogging and similar experiences in the homefront, a community of bloggers arose.  Founded by Ruby Ricafrente, fondly called Mommy Rubz, the Pinay Mommies Community was formed to foster camaraderie among mommy bloggers around the globe.  To date, there are more than 100 female bloggers who belong to this great community and who give each other invaluable support.

From all across the country and all over the world, scores mommy bloggers trooped to Aling Tonya’s Seafood Restaurant for the 2nd PMC Grand EB.  The overcast skies and rainshowers last November 22 did not stop us from spending an afternoon of fun, food, and familial bonding – yes, we are one big happy FAMILY of mommy bloggers.  The atmosphere outside was gloomy but inside the venue, all the beaming faces radiated as bright as sunshine.

The event was made merrier by the hordes of lootbags and raffle prizes from our generous sponsors.  The major sponsors – Smart Steps, Unilab, Dolan and Ceelin – gave each attendee gift packs filled with their products and also provided prizes to lucky raffle winners.

Smart Steps Baby Bottle Cleanser, Smart Steps Baby Fabric Conditioner, Smart Steps Baby Laundry Detergent, Holy Seat Disposable toilet seat cover and Holy Seat hand spray toilet seat sanitizer were given to all the attendees. Three boxes with the complete line of Smart Steps baby care products were also raffled off.

From Unilab, we each received a gift pack that contained various medicines and vitamins including Loperamide Diatabs, Enervon, and Rashfree. For our little ones, Ibuprofren Dolan gave a tumbler, a pencil case and two pencils with erasers on a spring. The 500ml bottle from Ceelin was well-appreciated by my little ones.

We were also gifted with various items by our Minor Sponsors:  Ajinomoto, Scotch Brite, PnG, and Geiser Maclang.  There was something for every person in our house!  There was a Pacquiao shirt for my husband, diapers for my little ones, spices and other cooking essentials for me, and cleaning aids for our househelp.  There was also a box of Krispy Kremes for everyone to share.

That’s not all!  There were also raffle prizes from Ainon, Avon, and Drypers.  I was lucky enough to have won a gift pack from Avon.  It contained a SuperCurlacious mascara, an Ultra Color Rich White Gold Lipstick, Skin So Soft Hand & Body Lotion, and an Advance Techniques Smoothing Creme.  I’ll let you know how I find those products once I get to try them.

Richwell raffled off toys and children of lucky moms are most probably enjoying their Barbie, Liv doll, Tumbling Monkeys, or Hot Wheels.  Other moms won shoes from GrendhaGoldquest Biotechnologies also sponsored some of the expenses for the event.

Members of PMC support each other not only in blogging but in other endeavors as well. After all, most moms here are not only bloggers but entrepreneurs as well. A couple of mompreneurs/bloggers showcased their products and services at the Grand EB.

Mommy Iris Pulga who also owns Project Happiness Bakehouse baked a cake specially for this occasion. The cake was soooo pretty no one wanted to slice it.

Mommy Iris Acosta provided us with fun photos through her photobooth Krazypix. Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/krazypix.

We also all ended up with one huge loot bag full of  tokens from each one of us.  The exchange of tokens was far more chaotic than the first EB as there are obviously more attendees this time around.  However,  the chaos and divisoria-like trade of tokens made the event more fun.  The Pinay Mommies Community is truly the best place to be in the blogosphere!  I can’t wait for the next PMC grand event.
