Summer Blast at AMBAY Kids Camp 2015

Fantastic. Spectacular. Amazing. Extraordinary. Awesome. Exciting. Exhilarating. I could go on and on listing all the words in a thesaurus that could describe just how marvelous this year’s Kids Camp was.

The kids let their creative juices flow with the ART ATTACK activity, learned to relax and to control their bodies during KIDS YOGA, unleashed their energy and learned the value of teamwork during the AMAZING RACE OBSTACLE COURSE, had loads of fun during the WATER FIGHT, experienced a little bit of camping as they listened to a story and roasted sausages over a BONFIRE, and had one of the best summer experience EVER.  Although the activities were quite similar to that of last year’s, there were more participants in this year’s camp which meant that FUN level was at its highest!

A few minutes of CIRCLE TIME for the kids to get to know each other.

FIRE! Or more like WATER!!!! This WATER FIGHT was so much more fun to watch than the so-called Battle for Greatness.

What’s a camp without a BONFIRE? Kids were thrilled to roast sausages over the fire.

Have you ever watched a movie under the stars…on the beach?  You should really try it!  My own kids got acquainted with Mei and Satsuki and have watched My Neighbor Totoro about half a dozen times already since we got back from Ambay.

Of course, a beach vacation isn’t complete without some fun in the sea and on the sand.

Summer’s never complete without a trip to the beach.  For most kids, the best trips are those where they get to  have fun with other kids, too.  Which is why we’re not missing this year’s Kids’ Camp in Ambay Beach Resort.

Kids Ultimate Summer Experience at AMBAY

We’ve already had our share of beach fun last April but we just couldn’t miss Ambay Beach Resort’s first ever Kids Ultimate Summer Experience – a 3-day adventure filled with fun summer activities such as kite flying, beach art, kids’ yoga, beach games, and outdoor movies. We were supposed to head to Botolan after Jade’s Trumpets Playshop class on May 2 but decided to accept an event invite from PLDT Home DSL. We left home in the wee hours of Saturday to make the most of our weekend in Ambay. Before I do away with the narrative and let these pictures tell you how much fun the kids had, I wanted to reveal a thought I had. While watching them have the time of their lives, I couldn’t help but wonder what summer activities they will want to do when they are a little older. Will they want to come on these family vacations with us, or strike out on their own? Maybe they will want to go to one of those American Summer camps we see all the time in movies and tv shows. It would be a charming experience for them. A friend told me about her children’s time away at a camp similar to this Maine summer camp and they had an amazing time. It might be a way off, but it was something to think about. Part of me wants them to stay this little forever, and part of me can’t wait to see what happens. It’s pretty exciting when you think about it, Anyway on with the pictures!

What do you get when you give kids some paint, sand, flowers, leaves, pebbles, and shells? One-of-a-kind art pieces any mom would love to have!

Little ones JUST CHILLIN’ OUT in between activities

Weren’t those activities screaming FUN?! To up the fun factor, there were also beach games for the entire family to play and movie night on the beach. This was definitely a summer experience my kids and I will treasure.

Leaving you now with a few more pics!

Last Summer Escapade at Ambay Beach Resort

Yey! We managed to squeeze in one last summer outing and were able to take the kids to the beach! Being the kids’ first sojourn at the beach, the trip will always hold one special place in our hearts.

Our trip didn’t take long weeks of planning. My husband’s motorcycle club, Skydrive Society, happened to have an outreach activity in Zambales. He wanted to take us with him so we could all participate in handing out school supplies to the students of Panaan Elementary School. Botolan was just a few minutes drive away from their venue so I eagerly suggested that we spend the night in Ambay Beach Resort, a resort being run by a co-parent in school and her friends.

So off we trooped to Zambales with both kids excited to see what a real beach looks like. Little Jak was off and running the moment we arrived. It was quite the opposite with Jade though. The little princess did not like the feel of the sand on her feet and would shake the sand off every few steps. She was also wary of the soft sand probably thinking she’d fall deep into it and get stuck. The lure of the beach was too much though and she was soon playing on the sand with her brother and I. I’m so glad that I decided to bring our beach umbrellas as it allowed us all to have fun in the sun whilst staying protected. I will definitely use them again if we go on another beach trip. When the afternoon sun let down its heat a few notches, we hit the water where the little girl had fun swimming, or at least attempting to swim.

The kids had loads of fun and were downcast when I told them that we had to wash and get dressed already. Near sunset, the air grew chilly and windy. At home, the kids would often stay glued to the boob tube while waiting for dinner. Since there are no televisions in the resort, they had to find ways to keep entertained. The sound of their laughter while playing with their Papa made my heart smile so! It wasn’t a sound I often hear, you see.

Dinner was served on the patio just right outside our room. We had homecooked sinigang, adobo, and veggie fritters. What’s so special about this fare is that it is vegan. Jak is a picky eater and wouldn’t eat vegetables even if threatened to not be given any food at all but he heartily ate the adobo cooked with veggie meat. Jade, on the other hand, would eat anything given to her. She took the most liking to the veggie fritters and happily munched on them between spoonfuls of adobo and rice.

Ambay Beach Resort lets you appreciate nature at its finest. You are provided with just the basic amenities – bed, bath, and food – allowing you to enjoy life at its simplest. A wide expanse of clean beach with fine sand, pristine waters calm enough for toddlers to swim in, fresh air with the faint scent of sea water – really a welcome respite to the hustle and bustle of city life.

Would we go back there? Yes, definitely! We’re hoping next time we go there, Satya will be around to play with Jade and Jak. 🙂
