IT’S FUN TO BE FIT WITH MOM AND ME!

Keeping fit and healthy starts in the home. Kids need physical activity to build strength, coordination, and confidence and it is the parent’s responsibility to lay the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle. How can you do this, you ask? The answer is simple – engage in physical activities with them and make it a daily habit.

For kids, fitness means playing and being physically active. Once they enter nursery until they get to big school, exercise comes in the form of playing tag with friends, P.E. classes, and attending organized sports such as basketball or swimming. However, parents can no longer rely on physical education in schools to provide enough physical activity for kids. They need to play a more active role and make fitness a family routine.

This March, jumpstart the summer with Mom and Me: Fun To Be Fit, a series of health and fitness activities that both moms and kids will enjoy.

Yoga for all ages have become popular as this activity improves the three elements of fitness – endurance, strength, and flexibility. Moms and kids, and even dads too, can sweat it out in the mat with an interactive yoga class from Yoga+ on March 1 (12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and White Space Mind and Body Wellness Studio on March 15 (12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.).  Poses that promote fun, laughter, and creativity will keep the kids engaged while moms challenge themselves in their own yoga practice.

While yoga entails focus and flexibility, aerobic dancing involves heart-pumping movements and is a great way to improve coordination and memory. Make your way to Slimmers World on Mach 8(9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) in their Megamall branch and March 22 (9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) in Trafalgar Makati branch for a fun and easy dance work out. Moms will also enjoy a signature Body Fat Analysis and Figure Consultation, Nutritional Counseling, Diamond Peel and a Slimming Treatment. Dancing to upbeat tunes, prepare to sweat it out. You’ll surely find yourself doing the routine even until you get home.

Swimming is one of the best workouts you can give your body as it activates almost all of your muscle groups at the same time. Since you’re floating in water, there’s less pressure on your joints and bones, and it almost seems like you’re not really exercising. Rounding up the Mom and Me Fun To Be Fit series is a swimming class with Coach Herman Brinas as hosted by The Legend Villas on March 29 (9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.). Paddle, kick, and soak the sun, it’s a fun fitness activity for a Saturday afternoon.

Allow enough time for free play, regulate the use of gadgets, and keep a variety of games and sports equipment at home. You’ll be surprised how a jump rope can make a big difference. Show your kids that fitness is important by engaging in fitness activities with them. Mom and Me: Fun To Be Fit gets you and your little one active together. Get in shape and create moments that you and the kids will remember for a lifetime!

How to Shop in Children’s Furniture Stores

If you are looking to remodel your child’s room and need some grand inspiration, children’s furniture stores in Burlington, VT, can give you ideas, guidance, and will allow you to look at an assortment of fantastic kid’s furniture for reasonable prices.

A Great Start

When remodeling or creating a child’s room, there are so many options to choose from and you may be confused at what is really needed versus what is not necessary. All bedrooms need a bed, so choose the bed as your focal point for the room. If you have limited space, a bunk bed is a great pick. It will allow more than one child to sleep in the room at a time and will maximize the little space that you have. It also gives the room a fun and inviting look—perfect for sleepovers and get-togethers.

For storing clothes into, a dresser is a great pick. Most come in a variety of sizes and looks. This will come in handy for all articles of clothing and accessories. If your little one loves toys and has a bountiful supply, storage bins are the perfect place to throw them into. This can keep everything well-organized and looking sharp. A messy room is never fun for you or your child. Lastly, determine what amusing items can be placed in the room to entertain your child, such as a television set, a drawing board, or a bookcase. This will add some pizazz and can show off who your child is.

Choose a Look

Once the basics are determined, you can pick out all of the styles and colors. This includes painting the walls, purchasing bedding, and adding personal touches with photo frames or rugs. This is the best way to add brightness and a pop of color, especially if all of the furniture is going to be a plain wood or white. You can tailor the room to your child’s liking and add a bit of personality through colors and lively themes. Once the room is complete, you will have one cheerful and grateful child on your hands.

A Successful Bedroom

Seek out furniture stores in Burlington, VT, that specialize in children’s rooms, so you can pick out great-looking, high-quality furniture that will last for a very long time.

Help for Would-Be Entrepreneurs

After finding out about the free briefing sessions offered by the Department of Trade and Industry, I explored their website to see what other services they offered entrepreneurs or those who are still on the planning stage. It was a pleasant surprise that to learn that DTI has business counselors who provide free counselling services to would-be or existing entrepreneurs. To those who have no time to visit any of DTI’s MSME Centers, there’s a host of resources available on the website that can be downloaded to guide you in planning and starting your business. If you’ve started your business and are looking for software solutions to give your workflow a boost, particularly when it comes to the financial side of things, try lease accounting software to help you out so that you can spend more time dealing with other important issues.

Starting a Business

The Start Your Business section includes downloadable handbooks to help you brainstorm on a business idea. If you need help creating your own Business Plan, there’s a sample available and a thorough explanation on how you can identify the factors that are critical to your business. The most helpful information I found here are the downloadable files for various business ideas such as Beauty Salon, Herbal Bath Soap, Water Refilling Station, and various food products. There’s a handy business primer for each business type that details how much investment one needs to start the business, computations of product costs and projected income, and even suggestions on where to borrow capital for your new business venture. If you would like any extra help planning your product or sourcing a manufacturer for your product then you might want to look at the services Gembah offer. Now you would know that your business would not just comprise of you and that you would need all the help you need to expand and grow your venture. Protecting your business, which relies on the skills and activities of the individuals involved in your business is of utmost importance. In cases such as these, you could decide to not only get insurance for your business, but also for key employee insurance, which makes your business the beneficiary. Losing an important member of your team to an unfortunate event could surely mean the demise of your company, which is surely not a desirable option for your newly started venture.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Centers

I haven’t been to one so I can’t tell how helpful they really are but from the information in the DTI website, you can apparently get free business counseling from MSME Centers nationwide.

MSME Centers provide business consultancy and advisory services; MSME information brochures, newsprints, and business reports; assistance in preparation of feasibility studies and business plans; and coordination of entrepreneurship and management training. They also facilitate business name registration and business linkages between buyers and suppliers.

These services would indeed be very helpful to those who want to start their own businesses this year. If you are a would-be entrepreneur, do go to www.dti.gov.ph for more information on how to set up your own business.

Tell-Tale Signs You Need a Foundation Repair

Your home should be the safest place for your family. To protect your family from intruders, you install the latest alarm and surveillance systems. But then, intruders aren’t the only ones you need to protect your family from. You must ensure that your house is structurally sound and won’t collapse on unwary family members. Newly built houses may be still very secure but as years pass, soil movement may cause your foundation to weaken. So, when do you look for foundation repair Ottawa? Here are some telltale signs that your home’s foundation may be damaged and is in need of repair:

Uneven or sloping floors. One telltale sign of foundation problems is the floor separating from the wall. Check areas where the floor meets walls and see if there are gaps between them. This would indicate that the floor has sunk. Another way of checking this is to put a ball on the floor and check if it rolls more than a couple of inches of drop.

Cracks in walls and ceilings. Stair-step or zigzag cracks in exterior or interior brick walls indicate unstable soil. Prominent wall cracks also indicate movement in the foundation. These cracks can reach as high as the roof and damage it if left untreated, meaning you’re not just looking at a foundation repair company but a Toronto Roofing Company as well. Some cracks may not be visible on walls covered with wallpaper. Just go over the entire wall and check for torn areas.

Stuck doors. Doors that are either stuck close or open may indicate sloping floors. They get stuck when either the top or the bottom of the door hits the door frame. A more visible sign that indicates foundation problems is door frame separation.

Walls Separating from House. Gaps in corners of the house may indicate that the walls are moving apart. This necessitates immediate repairs lest one of the wall collapses and causes much more damage.

These are the most common signs that your home is in need of a foundation repair. At the time of noticing such problems, the first thing you should do is acquire a structural report from a structural engineer who can give you an objective opinion and suggest the best solution to your problem. After which, you can hire an ottawa foundation repair professional to correct the damage. When you see any of those telltale signs, immediately address the issue before the damage gets worse.
