Merry Christmas-Themed Activities

Fun activities are in store for everyone! Head on to the Photobooth to capture memories for posterity.  Kids and kids-at-heart can unleash their creativity in the Arts & Crafts Corner.  After all the fun, wind down with a movie or two as you watch on the big screen set up inside the function hall. That’s not all, you also get to meet the jolly ol’ soul. It’s Christmas Eve but Santa Claus has time to spare to meet and greet your little ones.

That’s not the real Santa, and the jolly ol’ fellow on the sleigh is my hubby, But come Christmas Eve, the real Santa will spread some cheer. 😀

Christmas Breakfast Buffet

The best thing (at least for me!) about spending Christmas Eve in Summit Ridge is that you wake up the next day with no dishes to wash, no mess to clean up, AND no breakfast to cook.  When you wake up on Christmas morn, a sumptuous breakfast buffet awaits you at C2!

Enjoy a wide assortment of freshly-baked breads and delectable pastries. Have omelet just the way you like it. Let your kids have all the pancakes they can eat or binge on a variety of cereals. It’s Christmas, so let them have all the Koko Krunch and Rice Crispies they want! 😀

 photo foodbreadandpastries.jpg

Warm your tummies with champorado or congee served in a station complete with all the condiments. Fill up with more hot dishes including honey glazed ham, beef tapa, smoked bangus, tawilis, chicken nuggets, pork hotdog, buttered corn and carrots, and rellenong talong. All best eaten with warm plain or fiesta rice. Not a rice eater in the morning, there’s also pansit malabon and pasta carbonara for you.

 photo Cbreakfast.jpg

Of course, Christmas morn won’t be complete without our traditional Pinoy Christmas fares – Champorado, Native Bibingka with Red Egg, and Puto Bumbong.

P.S. from Aeropostale Comes To Town

Someone came to town before Santa Claus!  They’ve also brought plenty of treats for everyone.  Cool and trendy kids from our side of the Metro won’t be pouting this season as P.S. from Aéropostale is now available at the UP Town Center.  And what better way to spread the news than to throw a Kids’ Fair!

Held at the Amphitheatre of UP Town Center last November 22, the P.S. from Aéropostale Kids’ Fair was definitely a fair to remember. 😉

 photo PSkidsfair.jpg

Food was everywhere! Servers were going around with trays of sliders, lemonades, cupcakes, etcetera, etcetera.  There was unlimited Sabrett, FIC, Buy-the-Bucket nachos, and churros for everyone too.  Pardon the lack of decent pictures; my hands were holding different assortment of food most of the time. 😛

 photo PSfood.jpg

A fair wouldn’t be complete without games and activities and though what they had were not the usual game booths in fairs, the kids still had loads of fun. Not particularly surprising, they loved playing foosball and painting on the wall the most.

 photo PSactivities.jpg

The highlight of the fair is, of course, a fashion show featuring the latest from P.S. from Aéropostale.  Rain poured just as the show started but the kid and teen models still delighted the crowd as they walked the runway wearing must-have pieces this season.  Two little boys wowed the crowd with their MJ moves!

 photo PSfashionshow1.jpg

 photo PSfashionshow2.jpg

The movie screening of How To Train A Dragon 2, which my little ones were looking forward to, was canceled as the rain wouldn’t let up.  Fortunately, they were able to enjoy the food and games before it rained. 😀

Missed the fair? Here’s something you shouldn’t miss – BLACK FRIDAY SALE! Get 50% off everything except fragrances and watches.

 photo PSblackfridaysale.jpg

This sale is just for tomorrow, November 28, so make sure you spare some time to go shopping. Aéropostale’s Black Friday Sale will be at UP Town Center, Robinsons Midtown, SM Megamall, and Central Square Bonifacio High Street. Like PSfromAeroPH on Facebook so you won’t miss out on any promos and events like the Kids’ Fair.

Straight A’s #GetHappy Treats at Pancake House

Woo-hoo! I was finally able to take the kids to Pancake House for their #GetHappy treats! Promo started a couple of months ago but our sched’s been swamped and there just wasn’t any time to swing by PH. Since they were given their Honors Certificates for the Second Quarter last Thursday, we brought those along yesterday.

 photo pancakehousehappyjade.jpg

 photo pancakehousehappyjakei.jpg

Upon ordering, I found out that they were supposed to sign the back of the certificate or test paper.  Our server though was nice enough not to write anything on their certificates since both were printed on parchment paper.   He was also nice enough to tell me that even just quiz papers or test papers with perfect scores could earn the little ones free small soldiers.

 photo pancakehousegethappy.jpg

What are you waiting for?  Head on over to your fave Pancake House branch to get your little ones their #GetHappy treats!  Make sure you bring their honors certificates, report cards, aced quizzes/tests, and whatever other awards or recognition they have received in school.  It’s time to Get Happy!

Off the Bookshelf: The Magic School Bus

Last Friday was report card day and I couldn’t help noticing that the little girl’s grades in Science has consistently been the highest among all her other subjects. Back in preschool, she also received the Discovery Smart award twice. The little boy doesn’t have a Science subject yet, but like his sister, he also has an innate curiosity and a penchant for discovering how and why things work. It’s no wonder indeed that both of them LOVE the Magic School Bus!

 photo MagicSchoolBusbooks.jpg

These Magic School Bus books have been read many times over.  Don’t ask me how many times coz I’ve lost count already.  I’ve also lost count of the many questions the kids have asked wanting to know more about Australia, or what animals eat, or the monarch butterfly, and so on and so forth.  They’ve read the books so many times that it seems they know most of the stories and characters by heart. Ask them what The Friz’s first name is and they’ll tell you in a second. They are also familiar with the kids in the Friz’s class and can describe them as if they were their real classmates.

Aside from the making scientific facts easier to understand by integrating them into humorous stories, I also love how each book shares “reports” or assignments written by Ms. Frizzle’s students.  These notes help encourage my little ones to write on their journals too.

 photo MagicSchoolBusnotes.jpg

Since it was first published in the late 1980s, The Magic School Bus has since been adapted into a television series and published with early readers and chapter books versions.

Aside from reading the books, the kids also love watching the TV series. It’s not shown on television anymore but we were blessed to have been given by Tita Gen three VCDs from the Magic School Bus TV series.

 photo SAM_6504.jpg

The Magic School Bus is highly recommended for school age children. My kids started reading them at 4 years old and still get very excited whenever they are given a new title. This book and television series is indeed a great way to foster children’s love for Science.
