One Glass Of Red Wine A Day

One glass of red wine a day.  This is what the doctor advised my hubby who was starting to have problems with his cholesterol level which was in turn leading to other ailments. Here in a country where wine is not a basic commodity, prices can be quite steep one would think that it’d be more economical to try home brewing.

However, we have yet to learn how to brew our own wine so we have no other option than to purchase ones from the store.  Hubby tried several different brands at first but liked Novellino Classic Sweet Red Wine and has since patronized that brand.

More than the choice of wine though, you may be asking why hubby’s doctor recommended a glass of red wine per day.  There are two main reasons for this. One is that red wine contains high levels of saponins and resveratrol which significantly lowers cholesterol.  It also improves blood circulation and prevents clumping of platelets reducing the chances of heart attack or other cardiovascular diseases.

As with everything though, it has to be taken in moderation.  For hubby, one glass of red wine per day is his limit.  More than that would have a different effect, possibly harmful, on him.

VARICOSE VEINS: Reading Between The Lines

Have you noticed more of those spider veins creeping all over your legs? Have you been having cramps, aching and heavy feet that worsen at night or after exercising? Have your ankles started to swell at night? You may just have been crediting these symptoms to fatigue but you had better be on the lookout for varicose veins. Saying this though, if it is the pain that you want to manage initially, you may want to check out sites like Favorece.net to hopefully find a way of relieving the pain effectively, as well as improving the appearance. This might be something you haven’t considered, but it could be worth a try.

Though most common in women, varicose veins can also be found in men especially those who are obese, have had leg injuries, or require prolonged standing at work. In women, pregnancy and menopause can worsen varicose veins.

Aside from being aesthetically displeasing, varicose veins can cause pain and can even lead to more serious ailments such as eczema, atrophie blanche, and ulceration. If the condition is serious then you should go and get something like these thread vein treatments to help stop the pain.

However, before your condition worsens, better take steps in alleviating symptoms caused by those unsightly veins.

  1. Use compression socks. Compression stockings are made of stronger elastics that exert significant pressure on the feet, ankles, and legs but are less constrictive from the knees to the thighs. By increasing arterial pressure, they prevent blood from pooling in the feet and thus lessening varicose veins.
  2. Elevate your feet. Doing so lessens the build up of blood in your feet and gives you temporary relief from symptoms caused by varicose veins.

You may also opt for non-surgical procedures such as sclerotherapy or radiofrequency ablation which shrink veins without having to go under the knife. If your condition has been causing you extreme pain though, better consult your doctor for more specific treatment and therapy.

Getting Fit and Sexy For Summer

Summer’s here and most of us are getting ready for our family’s summer getaway. Some want to escape from the scorching heat and choose to spend a couple of days in the highlands for cooler climate. Most though relish the summer heat and troop to beaches and resorts for some sun, sand and fun.

So, we moms get everything all set and make sure that the entire family is all geared for the great summer outing of the year. Then we try on our swimsuits – Aaargh!!! Where did that bulge come from?! My bikini shrunk! We dash out the door and head to the pharmacy to grab that bottle of diet pills that promises to lose all fat in one week.

Sounds familiar? We all get crazy sometimes and want that quick-fix to look gorgeous. But before you pop that pill, check it out first at http://www.dietpillsideeffects.com. You’d really want to make sure it’s the right diet pill for you.

Better yet, go the safe and natural way by sticking to a healthy diet and by being more active (get off that computer chair!). Here are some ways you can lose those unwanted pounds the safe way:

  • Eat five servings of fruits and veggies everyday. It’s bound to keep the fats away.
  • Stick to water and sugar-free drinks. Steer clear of sodas and juices that are more sugar than fruit juice. (Check the ingredients, if sugar is listed before juice concentrate or fruit juice, put it back on the shelf.)
  • Eat snacks (healthy ones such as carrot sticks please) between meals. Then reduce portions during mealtime.
  • Exercise. Walk around the block, jog in the park, run on the treadmill, head off to the gym…do whatever works for you. Just keep those muscles moving.

These are just a few simple ways you can do to shed those excess pounds. If you’ve got the time to try and lose weight via a healthy diet, then you could take a look at different diet plans like Maggie Q’s diet plan to help get you started! Also, if you’re a parent to a toddler and a preschooler like me, I’d recommend you spend a couple of hours each day actively playing with them. It’s the most fun way to get some exercise. 😉

Food Cravings and Losing Weight

Craved for some finger-licking good fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw for lunch.  A few strokes on the keyboard and 30 minutes later, we’ve got a KFC feast on our table.  Oh dear, how can I lose weight if sumptuous food is oh so easily available?

After voraciously eating my fried chicken, I’m now tempted to grab an apidextra!  It helps though that I’ve got two active little toddlers to run after.  That’s bound to shed some of the pounds I shamelessly devoured for lunch.  Can’t wait for tomorrow’s trip to the sports center though.

Starting Our Family Fitness Regimen

Finally, the brood is going to squeeze in a few hours each week for some physical activities. We’re taking the little ones to the nearby sports park to jog around the oval and play badminton. My sister and I used to jog in the very same sports park before I got married. We’d run about twice or thrice a week and walked around three kilometers going home.

A week ago, I was horrified to have found that I’ve gained more than ten pounds since getting married. My youngest is two and a half years old already so I should have lost the post pregnancy weight gain a long time ago. I may still look very slim to others but, still, I feel the added weight and see the bulges. If I let my weight go unchecked, I might have to start checking out apidextra reviews soon.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to go to the sports center at least once a week to keep everyone in the house fit and healthy.
